As a former school principal for many years, I understand the challenges faced by current school administrators.
Other than the superintendency, the job of the site administrator is probably one of the most demanding in education today.
We need new young leaders with vision and the energy to deal with the daily operation of a school, to work with parents, to develop safe school campuses, to deal with discipline, to implement all the requirements of new and never ending legislation such as NCLB, and to work effectively as a management team member to accomplish the goals of the school district.
As a professor, working with new or aspiring administrators, I want to provide our students with the latest research and opportunity for reflection so that they become effective school leaders for our students and teachers.
