School of Engineering and Computer Science
Electrical Engineering
The School of Engineering and Computer Science is proud to be one of California’s top schools for electrical engineering.
The Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering is offered by the University of the Pacific through the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECPE). The Electrical Engineering program is accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET).
Electrical engineering encompasses a wide range of topics including:
- computers
- communication systems
- automatic control systems
- digital systems
- electronics
- energy conversion
- signal analysis
- neural networks
- fuzzy logic
- integrated circuit
Challenging employment opportunities are found in
- design
- manufacturing
- research
- education
- medicine
- management
All EE students must complete a team-oriented, multidisciplinary Senior Design Project, which provides an opportunity to apply engineering fundamentals and design methods to the solution of a real problem. Example projects include an automatic digital blood pressure monitor, a laser display system, a magnetic levitation system and a text-to-speech system.
Graduates of this program have the knowledge essential for entry into this dynamic field of engineering or to continue their education through graduate studies.
EE laboratories are continually being updated and include all the standard electrical engineering test and measurement equipment. Each laboratory has computers to provide ready access to computer simulation software in support of course work. Students have easy access to all laboratory equipment and can conduct approved independent research.
Students are active in IEEE and HKN electrical and computer engineering societies.
Pacific’s Co-op Program offers paid internships with major firms such as:
- State of California, Department of Water Resources
- Consol
- Aisin Electronics
- CDM
- MWH
