Our mission is to help University of the Pacific students become independent, self-confident and efficient learners to succeed in college. We assist students in successfully meeting the academic standards of the University, as well as their own educational and personal goals through on-going tutoring support.

The Tutorial Center's tutors are sophomores, juniors, seniors, or graduate students who have succeeded academically with a B+ or better in the class they are tutoring or are recommended by their Professors. In addition, our tutors are certified through the College Reading and Learning Associations' (CRLA) International tutor training program. Tutors who participate in 10 hours of tutor training and who tutor for at least 25 hours are certified at Level 1. Those who participate in an additional 10 hours of training and who tutor an additional 25 hours are certified at Level 2. Our tutors possess the important qualities of patience, excellent interpersonal skills, and the ability to communicate clearly.

If you are interested in becoming a tutor, please pick up a tutor application form in the Tutorial Center.

The Tutorial Center is located in the Educational Resource Center (Bannister Hall-Room 106) and offers free tutoring in a variety of subjects to currently enrolled students at Pacific (as resources and tutor availability permit).

Some tutoring is available in other areas of the campus, such as in the School of Pharmacy, the Conservatory, and the Department of Computer Science. Please contact those departments directly or call us for further information on these satellite programs.
