Our History & Mission

The University of the Pacific's mission is to provide a superior, student-centered learning experience integrating liberal arts and professional education and preparing individuals for lasting achievement and responsible leadership in their careers and communities.

Founded in the beginning in Santa Clara, California, Pacific is the first chartered university in California and has been responsible for many higher education pioneering firsts.

We have since gained many alumni of distinction and developed a strong identify as shown in our Spirit & Traditions.
