Don DaGrade

Associate Dean

Don DaGrade is currently serving as Associate Dean of the Conservatory of Music for the 2007-08 school year.  Dr. DaGrade served as professor of bassoon and saxophone at the University of the Pacific from 1970-2007. He holds the Doctor of Music from Indiana University, the Master of Music from Indiana University, and the Bachelor of Science from Brigham Young University. His major teachers include: Eugene Rousseau (saxophone), Earl Bates (clarinet), Harry Houdeshel (flute), Jerry Sirucek (oboe), Simon Kovar (bassoon), and Leonard Sharrow (bassoon) Arturo Toscanini's principal bassoonist with the NBC Symphony Orchestra.  Dr. DaGrade has also held teaching positions at Northeast Louisiana University, Brigham Young University, California State University - Chico, and has served as the bassoon coach for the Asian Youth Orchestra in Kumamoto, Japan.

Dr. DaGrade is currently principal bassoonist with the Stockton Symphony Orchestra and has been a member of the Sacramento Symphony, Contemporary Woodwind Quintet, Pacific Arts Wood Quintet, and the Bear Valley Music Festival Orchestra. He is a member of the International Double Reed Society, MENC, California Music Educators Association, Pi Kappa Lambda, Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia, and the Blue Key National Honor Society.
