B.M. Music Performance

In the world of music performance at the University of the Pacific, there are vast areas to explore, from Bach to Mozart to Verdi, from Beethoven to Stravinsky to Brubeck.  Students studying for a music performance degree actively expand their musical knowledge and skill, becoming literate in the broad language of music and perform works from many different periods, styles, and genres.

The individual mentoring relationship with an artist-teacher is fundamental to a performer's artistic development.  Members of the Conservatory's world-class faculty guide and nurture students in developing their skills as soloists and as members of large and small ensembles.  With every performance experience, students grow and progress toward becoming the artists they aspire to be.

After graduation, students with a music performance degree may decide to further their artistic training at a graduate school.  Vocalists may choose to work as teachers, singers in professional choruses associated with opera companies or symphony orchestras or as soloists in musical theater, opera, and sacred music.  Instrumentalists find opportunities as teachers, professional accompanists, soloists, members of small ensembles, professional symphonies, opera orchestras, and military bands.  Conservatory of Music graduates perform with the Metropolitan Opera, the San Francisco Opera, and opera companies in Europe, and with orchestras in the United States, Israel, the Czech Republic, Finland, South Africa, Malaysia and Japan.
