Gerber Lecture Series

The Gerber lecture series began in 2001 with a generous endowment from David and Laraine Gerber. 

Since 2001, SIS has brought international leaders to the Pacific campus. 

Past speakers include: President Kagame of Rwanda, Bishop Tutu, Mary Robinson, the former President of Ireland and Director of UNHCR, President Masire of Botswana, and Dr. Shirin Ebadi, the Nobel Laureate and lawyer from Iran.

In 2007, Dr. Gro Bruntland, the first female Prime Minister of Norway, the former Director-General of the World Health Organization who currently chairs a UN committee on climate change will speak at Pacific on October 18th at 6:30 pm in Faye Spanos Concert Hall.

Shirin Ebadi, 2003 Nobel Peace Prize Winner spoke at Pacific's Faye Spanos Concert Hall on May 3, 2007.

Ebadi was the honored speaker for the 2007 Gerber Lecture Series. Her talk entitled, "Iran Awakening: A Story of Revolution and Hope" was based upon her recent book.
