California Council for the Humanities | Stockton Speaks Project: Oral history project that showcases a collection of multi-cultural, multi-generational "coming-of-age" stories, from 54 individuals, in nine ethnic groups, from Stockton, California. A collaborative effort between the City of Stockton, Jacoby Center at University for the Pacific and individuals representing a number of ethnic-based, non-profit community organizations. Stockton Public Library | Literacy Program: Developed with the Cesar Chavez/Stockton Library's "Reach out and Read Program." After attending an all-day training, students in Professor Lehmann's Shakespeare class read to children in medical waiting rooms in South and Central Stockton, as a means of modeling literacy skills to both parents and children alike. |
Magnolia District, Stockton | Run by Dr. Courtney Lehmann. Focused primary attention in Stockton and the Midtown Magnolia district. The Jacoby Center has developed two outreach programs for the Magnolia district: City of Stockton Youth Advisory Board (YAB); HUD grant funds to stimulate activities in tutoring, career development and citizenship training.
