For Counselors and Principals

Encourage students who have superior leadership ability and commitment to academic excellence to apply for the Powell Scholarship.  Students need to complete  the Powell Scholars Application Form by the deadline.

Counselors and principals: please complete the  Powell Scholarship Online Recommendation Form for each student that applied for the Powell Scholarship before the deadline.


Qualification of Candidates

University of the Pacific is seeking Powell Scholars candidates who have:

  1. A cumulative high school GPA of 3.5 or higher (on an unweighted 4.0 scale)
  2. Undertaken a rigorous academic curriculum - Honors, AP, and/or IB courses
  3. Demonstrated superior leadership skills in two or more areas, including student government, community service or religious and cultural groups
  4. A combined SAT Critical Reading & Math score of at least 1250 or an ACT composite score of 28

Timeline

November 15th
Deadline for Powell Scholars applications and recommendations and university admission applications

Month of February
Students selected as finalists will be invited to campus to interview with the Powell Scholars selection committee

March 15
Scholarship winners announced
