Desmond Maxwell
Desmond Maxwell (B.Sc., 1986, and Ph.D., 1991, The Queen's University of Belfast, Ireland), Associate Professor.
Dr. Maxwell and his undergraduate students conduct research on the dinosaurs that dominated North America during the Early to mid-Cretaceous (about 115 – 97 million years ago).
Undergraduate students have accompanied him on field expeditions to Montana, Utah and Wyoming.
Recovered specimens are transported to the Department of Biology where students prepare the bones for study.
Dr. Maxwell also has conducted field work in Arkansas, Oklahoma and Texas.
He has acted as a reviewer for Columbia University Press, the Journal of Paleontology, University of California Press, and Science, among others.
He is a Research Associate at the Museum of the Rockies (Montana State University), Oklahoma Museum of Natural History (University of Oklahoma), and Museum of Paleontology (University of California, Berkeley).
