College of the Pacific

Joan Lin-Cereghino

Joan Lin-Cereghino (A.B., Princeton University, 1987; Ph.D., University of California, San Diego, 1992), Associate Professor.

My husband, Geoff, and I have shared a joint appointment here at the University of the Pacific since 2000.

We usually teach separate courses but share a research lab comprised of both Masters and undergraduate students.

I did my undergraduate work at Princeton University (A.B., Molecular Biology, 1987).

I then made the best decision of my life and attended graduate school at the University of California, San Diego (Ph.D., Biology, 1992) where I met Geoff.

After Geoff earned his Ph.D. in 1995, we drove across the country, spent one year as visiting faculty at Haverford College and then stayed four years as postdoctoral fellows at the Oregon Health Sciences University before coming to Pacific.

We enjoy being with our children, Ted and Grace, and coaching their respective soccer teams.

Our hobbies include cooking, gardening, playing music and rooting for the Boston Red Sox and the San Francisco Giants.

Dr. Joan Lin-Cereghino teaches:  Microbiology, Principles of Biology and Gene Expression.
