The Record had a short story about a "public health day" event to be held at the Chesar Chavez Library in downtown Stockton. The story said that students from University of the Pacific's Thomas J. Long School of Pharmacy and Health Sciences will put on a puppet show for children that will stress things that children can do to stay healthy.
The Spartan Daily, San Jose University's campus paper, had a story that said the university's gym was evacuated Tuesday night during a volleyball game against University of the Pacific. It was evacuated because of the 5.6 earthquake that struck during the game.

With one kid in a UC and another here, the differences could not be more startling."
The Sacramento Bee had a story about a memo to all Sacramento County library staff telling them to call administrators if any member of the grand jury shows up at a branch, asking to see records. George Harris, a professor at McGeorge School of Law, was quoted in the story saying library officials are safe in simply asking librarians to inform them of law enforcement activity. He said the practice is routine in businesses under outside investigation. "If the library administrators try to interfere with the employee's decision to talk to investigators, I think that would be improper," he said.

The Record had a brief about the "Fest of the Best" activity being held at Pacific Saturday morning by student-run radio station KPAC.
The Record had a feature story on "what makes a college town." It used Davis as an example and said "despite the presence of University of the Pacific, no one would mistake Stockton for a college town."

The Modesto Bee had a brief about the close and success of the "Investing in Excellence" Campaign. It said that Pacific had a goal of raising $200 million but instead raised $330 million.
Dr. Robert Boyd, professor and chairman of the Department of Orthodontics at the University of the Pacific's Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry, was quoted in a story about the evolution of braces in The Sacramento Bee.
The Record ran a brief about a "child health awareness" puppet show that was being put on at the Stockton library by Pharmacy students. It was to teach children about basic health skills.

Both the Sacramento Business Journal and East Bay Business Times ran stories on the death of developer and former Pacific regent Robert Powell.
The Record had a feature story on the Pacific Men's Golf Team. It said the team is in ninth place this week at the Pacific Invitational at the Brookside Country Club.

The Modesto Bee had a story about Connie Brown, a woman who kept dairies for most of her life. She died last week. The story said that Brown and her husband were huge fans of Pacific's basketball team and both of her children graduated from Pacific.
The Washington State University paper, The Daily Evergreen, had a story about this past weekend's swim team meet. It said it was a close competition between University of the Pacific and Ohio State. Pacific finished second, it said.
The Record had a feature story on Pete Turner Jr., a Stockton native who is being inducted into the Amateur Softball Hall of Fame in Kentucky tonight. The story said that Turner attended Pacific for a few years but eventually transferred to Sacramento State.

The Record had a feature story on Delta Basketball Coach Brian Katz. The story said that many of his players eventually move on to become star basketball players for Pacific.

The Record had a story that said Junior point guard Steffan Johnson was named Big West Conference player of the week Monday afternoon.

The Herald Tribune in Florida said that McGeorge alumnus Gilbert A. Smith Jr. is running for circuit court judge there.

PharmaLive, a newsletter for the Pharmaceutical industry, and several other business news services ran a press release that said Neuromed Pharmaceuticals, a biopharmaceutical company developing new and improved chronic pain drugs, named Pacific alumnus Gene Wright as Vice President of Project Leadership.
Inside Bay Area and the San Francisco Chronicle both ran a column about the upcoming high school championship game that will be played at Pacific this weekend.
The Record had a center-piece story about a new apprenticeship program that encourages high school seniors to think about becoming teachers. The story quoted Benerd Dean Lynn Beck who said the program will end up producing some "outstanding teachers." The story also mentioned that Benerd is hosting an event this weekend for the high school seniors in the Stockton school program.
