Objectives

The Bachelor of Science degree in Bioengineering is offered by the University of the Pacific School of Engineering.

The educational objectives of the bioengineering degree program include the following.

1. Our graduates will have a thorough foundation in engineering, and relevant knowledge of life sciences and ethical issues, that enables a successful career in bioengineering amid future technological changes.
   
   
2. Our graduates will be qualified to
   
   
   • practice as an engineer in both traditional and emerging technologies,
   • pursue advanced study in bioengineering, and/or
   • gain admission to professional schools (e.g. MD, DVM, DDS).
     
     
3. Our graduates will have a breadth and depth of experiences, both academic and extracurricular, to enable them to develop their leadership skills, including the ability to communicate effectively in a multidisciplinary setting.
   
   
4. Our graduates will have an inherent advantage in understanding the significance of and participating in future technological advances.
   
   
5. Our graduates will have the skills and ability to work on interdisciplinary or cross-functional teams.
