It takes a Rainbow: Bridging the mountains to the bay.
Greetings from the University of the Pacific and the City of Stockton. Please plan on joining us at “It Takes A Rainbow: Bridging the Mountains to the Bay”, Pacific’s first Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer/Questioning, and Ally (LGBTQIA) conference on February 9, 2008. We are excited to welcome college and university students from around Northern California to what we hope will be an annual event. For many months, the conference planning committee has been working hard to plan an awesome conference with outstanding speakers, programs and events that will bring us together as a community. We are also very excited to announce that comedian ANT 
will be our headline act! This cost is included as a part of conference registration fee.
We believe, and are proud that in the United States, LGBTQIA life has developed and become more visible over the last few decades. Most of us can agree that significant progress and notable advancements have been made with respect to the gay (queer) rights movement in this country. At the same time, we can acknowledge that many obstacles remain.
As students, we know that many of you are actively involved in community or campus Pride Centers and organizations. Our goal in hosting this conference is to bring all of us (students, staff and faculty) from different institutions in Northern California and provide opportunities to learn from one another, challenge the status quo, develop strong friendships, network, and most importantly, learn how to be active leaders at our institutions and within our larger communities (local , state, and nation). In doing so, we hope you will leave the conference inspired, wanting to make a difference and prepared to take on the challenge of being the next generation of “bridge builders” for our communities in California, and in places beyond! We look forward to seeing you all in February!!!
