The Brubeck Festival 2001

 

The inaugural Brubeck Festival was held during February 2001. Compared to some of the later festivals, it was modest in size, but it was extremely important nonetheless. There were two significant concerts, both featuring the compositions of Dave Brubeck. On February 3, a program called “Sesquicentennial Celebration Concert”, celebrating the 150th anniversary of the University of the Pacific and the beginning of the Brubeck Institute, was held in Faye Spanos Concert Hall in the Conservatory of Music. The concert featured the following works.

On February 8 and 10, the Stockton Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Peter Jaffe, performed the world premier of “Millennium Intervals” at Atherton Auditorium on the San Joaquin Delta College campus. The work was composed for the Stockton Symphony Orchestra.
