Pacific Legal Scholars Program for Engineering and Computer Science Majors

There is a premium demand for lawyers with a background in engineering or computer science.  Some fields such as patent law require a technical bachelors degree, while others are greatly enhanced by a technical education.  In the words of one corporate attorney, "Lawyers with technical backgrounds can write their own ticket in industry."

Pacific offers an excellent vehicle for students who possess these interests and abilities through the "Pacific Legal Scholars Program."

  • Guaranteed admission to the McGeorge School of Law*
  • Weekly seminars that introduce you to myriad aspects of the legal profession and prepare you for the type of learning required in Law School.
  • Periodic field trips to various legal venues and community activities.
  • Various small scholarships, such as a one-year book stipend and/or a reduction in housing fees once you begin law school.

This program can be done in conjunction with the Pacific Honors Program if a student wants to pursue both programs.

Accelerated Program: Engineering and computer science students in the Pacific Legal Scholars Program may substitute fifteen units of coursework from the McGeorge School of Law for their 32-unit cooperative education requirement. Their B.S. from the School of Engineering and Computer Science will be awarded upon completion of the units from the Law School.
