




Assistant Professor Mathematics - Statistics
The Department of Mathematics of the University of the Pacific invites applications for a tenure track Assistant Professor position in Statistics. The position will start in the fall of 2010 and require the applicants to have a Ph.D. in statistics or statistics education by August 2010. Applicants with a Ph.D. in mathematics or mathematics education, with a strong background in statistics, will also be considered. Applicants should have a strong commitment to excellence in undergraduate education and must have experience successfully working with diverse student populations.For this position we seek either a statistician, mathematician, or mathematics educator who has the desire to teach all levels of undergraduate statistics. We are particularly interested in candidates with strengths that would reinforce our connections with one of the University's professional schools. Candidates should be able to involve undergraduates in research projects or experiential learning. The position carries a teaching load of five courses per year: three courses in one semester, and two in the other. In addition to teaching, Pacific faculty are expected to maintain a strong research program.
