Why apply?

The scholarship application process is more about learning and service than it is about winning. 

Foundations that give out money for graduate studies, research, and internships ask their scholars to be active and responsible members of their communities, on campus and beyond.

Identifying scholarships to apply for and undertaking the application process are both important opportunities for college students. 

Even "just" thinking about applying is an opportunity to articulate for yourself what truly matters to you, inside and outside the classroom. 

In the personal statement, you look forward and back: you reflect on the people and experiences that have influenced you, the obstacles you have confronted, and your professional goals.
