Deep Water Rowing Masters Program
The University is also pleased to announce the creation of Deep Water Masters Rowing Program (DWR) in Spring 2008. This exciting new program is open to all adults 18+ in Stockton and the surrounding communities. DWR participants may choose a recreational experience focusing on the serenity and general well-being that results from low-impact physical exercise on our beautiful Delta waterway. Additionally, for those who want to express their passion for the water in a more mentally and physically challenging environment, we are now offering a competitive program.
No experience is necessary to begin either of these programs so please contact us for the next learn to row opportunity and we will get you started!
Competitive Masters programs exist all across the world and include National and World Championships. There are several major men's and women's programs throughout Northern California including Sacramento State Masters, Marin Masters, Lake Merritt Masters, as well as many others. Masters racing is handicapped so that older athletes receive time deductions from their overall result. Masters rowing is a lifetime sport with many athletes throughout the country competing well into their 80s and 90s. Masters programs also provide an enjoyable social component and represent a great way to make new friends while attaining fitness goals. Why go to the gym when you can get fit on our beautiful Delta waterway?
