Joshua Foster amoung top students in U.S.
(March 7, 2008) -
The student body president at the University of the Pacific, Joshua Foster, has been named by USA Today as one of the "60 most outstanding undergraduates in the country," according to a press release from the college.
Foster is one of only two students from California universities named to the group. The newspaper
named 20 students to its first, second and third academic teams. Foster made the third team.
A native of Lincoln, Neb., Foster is a senior majoring in economics. He plans to pursue a master's degree in economics after he graduates in May and hopes to enter a career as a political or public policy consultant. He has served as president of Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity and currently is Pacific's student body president. Last year, he presented research on the relationship between agricultural subsidies and labor migration at a national conference for undergraduate research.
"It really brings together all that I've done throughout my college career," Foster said in the statement. "If it weren't for all the opportunities Pacific has given me, I don't think I would be a part of this."
Alice Pang, from Stanford, was the other student. A third student from UC Irvine made honorable mention.
