Eric Hammer

Professor of Music Education & Director of Bands

Eric Hammer is professor of music education, director of bands in the Conservatory of Music, and has been at the University of the Pacific since 1993. He holds the B.M. degree from the University of the Pacific, the M.M. degree in conducting and the D.M.A. in music education and conducting from the University of Oregon. He has held teaching positions at Los Medanos College and Diablo College.

In the Conservatory, Dr. Hammer teaches brass techniques class, principles of conducting, band development, band literature and organization, conducts the University Concert Band and Symphonic Wind Ensemble, supervises the Pep Band, and serves as advisor to woodwind, voice, and piano music education students at the freshman and sophomore levels.

Dr. Hammer is the vice president of College Band Directors National Association, a past-president of Bay Section California Music Educators, a member of Music Educators National Conference, California Band Directors Association, World Association of Symphonic Bands and Ensembles, and is conductor of the Diablo Wind Symphony.
