Directed Experiential Learning
Students interested in the Blended MSES Program may postpone their Co-op until they see if they have been accepted into the Blended Program. If they are accepted into the program, then, after they have completed a minimum of two graduate courses, they may opt instead for a Directed Experiential Learning assignment. Directed Experiential Learning is similar to Co-op except that technical expectations are elevated, and students must submit periodic reports as defined by the co-op requirements.
Students will define five to ten technical learning objectives for their placements in conjunction with their worksite supervisor, their faculty advisor, and their co-op advisor, taking into account their personal career goals as well as their particular placement. Their final report will defend the attainment of these learning objectives.
Students register for 14 units of credit for the summer semester, and 18 for the fall semester, for a total of 32 co-op units. Six of these 32 units will count toward the unit requirement for the MSES Program.
