Conservatory of Music

Therese Marie West

Assistant Professor of Music Therapy & Music Education

Therese West is assistant professor of music therapy and music education in the Conservatory of Music and began at the University of the Pacific in 2002. She holds the B.A. from the University of California-Riverside, Music Therapy Equivalency from Willamette University, M.M. in Music Therapy from the University of Miami, and the Ph.D. in Interdepartmental Studies in Music Therapy and Health Psychology from the University of Miami. Dr. West is a board certified music therapist.

Dr. West has served as a music therapist in numerous institutions, including Pacific Presbyterian Psychiatric Hospital in San Francisco, Richmond Partial Hospital in Richmond, CA, Mount Diablo Behavioral Medicine & Medical Pavilion in Concord, CA, The Christie School in Marylhurst, OR, Jackson Hospital-Women's Health Center in Miami, United Cerebral Palsy of Broward County, and the Las Palmas Health Center in Miami. She has served as a music therapy contractor for Kaiser-Permanente Medical Centers in the Northern California Region, and through Adagio, Inc. in Portland, OR, and has been a Rehabilitation Therapist at the Langley Porter Psychiatric Institute at the University of San Francisco. Dr. West is a frequent presenter at conferences throughout the country.

In the Conservatory, Dr. West teaches courses in music therapy and music education.
