Conservatory of Music
Eric Wood
Eric Wood is visiting lecturer in music theory and music history and has been associated with the Conservatory of Music since 1998. He holds the B.M. and M.M. in composition from the University of Oregon where his major teachers were Derek Healey, Harold Owen, and Monte Tubb, and the D.M.A. in composition from Boston University, where his major teachers were Charles Fussell and Lukas Foss. He has also taught at Evergreen Valley College in San Jose, CA, Ohlone College in Fremont, CA, and at Boston University.
Among his compositions are: If music and sweet poetry agree; three Shakespeare songs for tenor and piano, Nocturnal Fantasy for cello quartet, " . . . like a perhaps hand"; six poems of e.e.cummings for soprano and piano, Theme and Variations on "Lucia nelle Stelle con dia Diamenti" for Baroque quartet, and O Golden Child, a cantata for soprano, baritone, chorus, orchestra, and organ.
At Pacific, Dr. Wood teaches courses in music theory and world music. He is a member of the American Music Center and the College Music Society.
