Conservatory of Music
Lynelle Frankforter Wiens
Lynelle Frankforter Wiens is professor of voice in the Conservatory of Music and has been at the University of the Pacific since 1978. She holds the B.M. from the University of Nebraska, the M.M. and the Doctor of Music from Indiana University. She was a student of Eileen Farrell, Margaret Harshaw, Lucille Evans, Martha Lipton, and Martial Singher. She is a former faculty member of the Symposium on the Care of the Professional Voice in Philadelphia, the Pacific Voice Conference in San Francisco, and taught at Indiana University.
Dr. Wiens has sung in opera and solo recitals throughout the United States and Canada. She was a national first-place winner of the MTNA competition in voice, winner of the Northern California NATSAA Competition, and a finalist in the California Young Artist Competition. She was awarded the Van L. Lawrence Fellowship by National NATS and the Voice Foundation to foster interdisciplinary education among laryngologists, singing teachers, and voice scientists.
In the Conservatory, Dr. Wiens teaches voice and vocal pedagogy, is an academic advisor for voice majors, and serves as chair of the voice department. She is also the Director of Alumni Relations for the Conservatory. Dr. Wiens is a member of Phi Beta Kappa and Mortar Board national honor societies.
