The MAIR program will inform you of a positive admission decision, and the Dean of Graduate Studies will send you official written notification of the admission decision. If admitted, you must return your acceptance card, enclosed in the official notification from the dean, to be admitted and allowed to register for classes.
Visas and Application Deadlines
Due to recent changes in U.S. laws, the process for obtaining a student visa is expected to take much longer than in previous years. Therefore, international applicants must submit all required admission materials at least three months in advance of the desired start date to allow enough time for the visa process to be completed. The application deadlines for international applicants are as follows:
October 1 for the January residency
March 2 for the July residency
Note: Canadian applicants must complete all of the requirements listed for other international students. However, they do not have to obtain student visas; they require only the official international student acceptance form from University of the Pacific.
Up-to-date information regarding visas and requirements can be obtained from University of the Pacific’s International Programs and Services office, or you may visit the U.S. Department of State web page at www.unitedstatesvisas.gov to get more information on how to apply for a U.S. visa. Taking the Intercultural Development Inventory
As an applicant to the MAIR program, you will take the Intercultural Development Inventory (IDI), an instrument that measures intercultural sensitivity. Upon receipt of your completed online application at University of the Pacific, the Intercultural Communication Institute will send you a copy of the IDI to complete and return. Your IDI must be submitted before your application can be reviewed. The Graduate Record Examination (GRE) is not required for the MAIR program.
