“Songs, Scenes, and Dances” is the theme for this concert featuring performances by both the University Concert Band and the Symphonic Wind Ensemble.  “Songs” includes a rich, contemporary setting of Franz Beibl’s “Ave Maria” while Norman Dello Joio’s Emmy-winning “Scenes from the Louvre” portrays that great Paris museum.  “Courtly Airs and Dances” by Ron Nelson provides tuneful music for the heart and feet while “Glorioso” by contemporary Japanese composer, Yasuhide Ito, paints a powerful, poignant three-movement tone poem of challenge and courage.
