Selection Process

There are four components to qualify for the CIP scholarship.  The CIP applications must be submitted by February 15th, 2009.  Applicants must submit all other required materials by the stated deadlines.

  1. UNIVERSITY OF THE PACIFIC ADMISSION:
    Students must complete an admission application and receive an offer of admission. Apply online at http://www.pacific.edu/apply.
      
  2. FINANCIAL QUALIFICATION:
    You must do the following:
     
    • FAFSA:
      • File the Free Application for the Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) with the federal processor on or before February 15, 2009. http://www.fafsa.ed.gov
         
    • CAL GRANT:
      • Freshmen - ask your high school counselor to send a Cal Grant GPA Verification Form to the California Student Aid Commission no later than March 2, 2009.
      • Transfers - if you are not currently a recipient of a Cal A, B, or Cal Grant A CC Reserve award, ask your Delta Counselor to send a Cal Grant Verification Form to the California Student Aid Commission no later than March 2, 2009.
         
    • Meet the financial eligibility requirements of the Federal TRIO program and demonstrate eligibility for and receive the Federal Pell Grant at Pacific.
       
    • Submit all tax information and required documents to the Office of Financial Aid by May 1, 2009.

    These forms are also available from high school counselors, your community college financial aid office, or the University of the Pacific Financial Aid Office. For detailed instructions, contact the Office of Financial Aid.

    When you have satisfied these requirements, apply for the CIP Scholarship. CIP applications must be submitted by February 15th, 2009. 
    If you do not receive a scholarship through CIP, you may still be accepted to the University of the Pacific and receive other financial aid.

  4. CIP ORIENTATION/RETREAT
    Upon recommendation of the scholarship offered by the Community Involvement Program, you will be required to attend a CIP Orientation/Retreat which will be held in Summer 2009. 

Once accepted for CIP, the following requirements are to be completed each semester:

  • 15 hours of volunteerism at an approved site
  • 5 hours of recruitment
  • active participation in the SUCCESS program
  • Complete a minimum of 12 units each semester.
