October - Physical Therapy Month Activities
Second year physical therapy students participated in several activities during October, which is designated as Physical Therapy Month. Sabrina Ames, Emily Durbin, Nicki Fell, Calisse Trunnell, Mandy Welch and Ashleigh Young engaged 6-12th grade girls in activities and discussion about physical therapy during the Expanding Your Horizons Career Fair, held at Pacific on October 4.
On October 10, over 150 people who attended the Stanislaus County Summit on Falls in Modesto were assessed for balance disturbances by Heidi Laroche, Erin Newell, B.J. Pataria, Stephanie Stewart and Tim Stanton.
On October 18 about 100 people participated in the third annual 5K Tiger Dash & ½ Mile Cub Run, organized by Isabel Banales, Nanette Farley, Hoang Nguyen and Alissa Perrill. Several physical therapy students offered lower extremity screening assessments to interested individuals at the event.
The annual Physical Therapy Open House was held on October 29. Organized by Alexis Anderson, Jon Aycock, Chelsea Blecha, Nicole Broekema, Melissa Hazel, Dan Lara and Tony Lema, attendees met faculty and students, participated in tours and other activities, and received information about the department, profession and the DPT curriculum.
