
Loans for Students and ParentsUndergraduates | Graduate / Professional ProgramsUndergraduatesFederal Direct Stafford LoanThe Federal Direct Loan Program allows you to borrow directly from the federal government, through the university, to pay college costs. Students who demonstrate financial need may qualify for a subsidized Stafford Loan; others may qualify for an unsubsidized loan. Information about Stafford Loans will be included as part of your Financial Aid Package. Federal Direct PLUS Loan (Parent Loan)Link to Pacific's Parent PLUS Loan Request form for the 2009-2010 Academic Year Parents can borrow a PLUS Loan to help pay your education expenses if you are a dependent undergraduate student enrolled at least half time in an eligible program at an eligible school. PLUS Loans are available through the Federal Family Education Loan (FFEL) Program and the William D. Ford Federal Direct Loan (Direct Loan) Program. Your parents can get either loan, but not both, for you during the same enrollment period. They also must have an acceptable credit history. Private (Alternative) LoansLenders offer a variety of long-term loans that allow parents and other creditworthy adults to finance college costs. Private loans are generally more expensive than federal loans. Ordinarily, the borrower or a co-borrower must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident, and most undergraduate students will have to apply with a creditworthy co-borrower in order to qualify.
