Artists Rights Workshop

Pacific Hosts Artist Rights Workshop Event
Targets Musicians, Composers and Pre-Law Students

Michael Aczon

Learning exactly what is required to protect your song or performance is not always easy in the age of You Tube and other internet-related media. To provide a better understanding of how to protect one’s music today, Pacific’s Conservatory of Music is presenting a free Artist Rights Workshop from 1-4 PM on Saturday, February 21, 2009 in the Library Community Room.

The event is the brain child of Pacific undergraduate, Bryce McLaughlin, who is studying Music Management in the Conservatory with a pre-law minor. Bryce has invited entertainment attorney Michael Aczon, author of The Musician’s Legal Companion, to facilitate the workshop. “It’s a way for musicians to empower themselves and to better protect their own music,” stated McLaughlin.

Funding for this event is provided by grants from the Conservatory of Music’s Pacific Fund, the Undergraduate Task Force on Research and the Dean of the Library. Members of the Mc George School of Law’s Entertainment Law Society will also be in attendance. The event is open to students, faculty, staff and other interested members of the community. A brief reception and book signing with Michael Aczon will follow the event.

For more information contact Bryce McLaughlin.
