Pacific appoints Joseph M. Long Chair of Health Care Management

University of the Pacific has selected Peter Hilsenrath as the Joseph M. Long Chair of Health Care Management and Professor of Economics. Hilsenrath started serving in the position in early January.
As chair of Pacific's health care management program, Hilsenrath oversees a program that offers a dual degree in pharmacy and business. The combined Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) and Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree is designed to prepare students for leadership positions that demand knowledge of health sciences and management.
The position was established with a $2.5 million grant from The Joseph M. Long Foundation in 2002, named in honor of Joseph M. Long, who co-founded the Longs Drugs stores with his brother Thomas J. Long.
Prior to his appointment, Hilsenrath was Professor and Department Chair of Health Management and Policy at the University of North Texas Health Science Center in Fort Worth, Texas.
