Pacific Students to Perform "The Vagina Monologues" to raise money for Women's Center

University of the Pacific students will perform the highly acclaimed, award-winning play "The Vagina Monologues" in the Grand Ballroom of the DeRosa University Center on Feb. 6, 7 and 8. Each performance will start at 8 p.m. Tickets are $12 ($8 for students) with all proceeds going to The Women's Center of San Joaquin County.

Written by Eve Ensler, "The Vagina Monologues" feature monologues by women characters that deal with a variety of subjects, including birth, love, sex, rape and mutilation.  Based off of hundreds of interviews with women around the world, the play addresses experiences that range from traumatic to humorous.

First performed in 1996, the play has been produced throughout the world and has included performances by well-known actresses such as Winona Ryder, Whoopi Goldberg and Cate Blanchett to help raise money for anti-violence efforts. The play has helped raise more than $60 million for V-Day, a global movement started by Ensler to stop violence against women and girls. More information can be found at http://www.vday.org.
