Pacific Pharmacy Dominates State Pharmacy Meeting

The California Pharmacists Association (CPhA) held their annual meeting, Outlook 2009, February 19-22, 2009 at the Disneyland Hotel in Anaheim, CA.

The representation of Pacific Pharmacy alumni and faculty in CPhA leadership roles demonstrates the University's passion for involvement in the future of the pharmacy profession. CPhA leadership associated with Pacific Pharmacy includes:

  •  CPhA President Dr. Jeff Goad is a former faculty member
  • President elect is alumnus Dr. Eric Gupta
  • Speaker Dr. Nancy DeGuire is an alumna and faculty member
  • Parliamentarian is alumnus Dr. Mike Pastrick
  • Treasurer is alumnus Dr. Ken Scott.
  • The speaker elect was won by alumnus Dr. Jarrod Mills.

Other awards and distinctions earned by Pacific Pharmacy students, faculty and staff:

  • Distinguished New Practitioner of the year is alumnus Dr. Gupta
  • Innovative Pharmacist of the Year is alumna Dr. Dana Nelson
  • The Bowl of Hygeia winner is adjunct professor Dr. Chet Yee

  • Mr. Earl Giacolini, a member of the Schools Deans Leadership Council, was honored with a Lifetime Membership Award.

During the conference it was also announced that in November Dr. Donald Floriddia, alumnus and faculty member, will be inducted into the California Pharmacy Hall of Fame. This honor is one of the most coveted awards that CPhA can bestow on a member.

Saturday morning of Outlook 2009 was very exciting when over 150 alumni, students and friends of Pacific Pharmacy attended the alumni breakfast to network, celebrate our School's prominence, and to hear updates about the School.

Special thanks to all of our students who participated in Outlook 2009…The Orange Army was awesome, and through the efforts of our students, Pacific had the largest number of bowling teams and raised the largest donation for the Pharmacy Foundation's "Strike out against Medication Errors" campaign.
