Elizabeth Griego Elected President of NASPA

() -

NASPA, Student Affairs Administrators in Higher Education, officially announced Pacific Vice President for Student Life Elizabeth Griego as its newly elected president at its annual conference, March 7-11 in Seattle. "I am honored by my election to the NASPA presidency and I look forward to giving back to the professional organization from which I have learned so much over my professional growing-up years," Griego said.

Griego has held various leadership positions within NASPA, including Region VI National Vice President, chair of the northern California Executive Committee, and coordinator of the Region VI Women's Network. "With her powerful intellect, incomparable interpersonal skills, and experience as a leader, Elizabeth is the right person at a time that could predictably be a turning point for not only NASPA, but for higher education," said NASPA Executive Director Gwendolyn Jordan Dungy. Griego will be the second administrator from Pacific to serve in the position. Judy Chambers, former Vice President for Student Life, served as NASPA president from 1987 to 1988. Pacific is the only university in the country to have provided two women NASPA presidents. NASPA's membership includes professionals working within all areas of student life and has more than 11,000 members at 1,400 campuses, representing 29 countries.
