Gruwell Mineral Collection

This collection represents the life work of Elva Gruwell and her husband, Orrie.

It includes an extensive species collection representing samples from all over the world.

The other half of the collection includes samples collected by Mrs. Gruwell on her own field trips across the country.

There are over 5,000 specimens in all.

The collection was donated to the department by Gail Kautz, a former member of the Board of Regents, and her husband, John.

Local and regional schools and mineral clubs hold field trips to view the collection.
