Fiber Reinforced Polymer (FRP) Composites For Infrastructure Applications Conference

(April 23, 2009) -

The University of the Pacific, School of Engineering and Computer Science, and the U.S. Army Engineer Research and Development Center (ERDC) Construction Engineering Research Laboratory (CERL) are organizing a Fiber Reinforced Polymer (FRP) Composites for Infrastructure Applications Conference - focusing on Innovation, Technology Implementation and Sustainability.

The purpose of this conference/workshop is to facilitate the interaction of nationally and internationally recognized experts on all aspects of Fiber Reinforced Polymer (FRP) composites for infrastructure applications from material science, performance, economics, and sustainability perspectives.  These different perspectives will be documented into an integrated set of proceedings that establish the state of practice and that charts future requirements for FRP composites for infrastructure applications.  This conference will provide a unique opportunity for collaboration and information exchange among participants active in research and technology implementation.

The conference is scheduled for Nov. 4 - 6, in San Francisco, California.  San Francisco is truly a cultural wonderland with a unique tradition, history and environmental setting.  Additional information is provided in the attached brochure.

Participation is by invitation only.  We expect to limit participation in the conference to a maximum of 45 people.  If you are interested in participating, you are requested to complete and return the Participant Response form as soon as possible but no later than July 15th, 2009.  Please email, fax or mail a copy of the competed form to Ms. Mickie Sundberg at msundber@pacific.edu or fax 209-946-3086.  Direct mail is:

As an invited participant, you are not required to present a paper, however, if you wish you can do so.  The paper could be based upon research or an overview of the current knowledge in the field.  Ideally, papers will generally focus on one of the major themes identified in the enclosed brochure.

There are no conference fees for invited participants and most of the meals during the conference are provided.  Limited travel stipends ($500 to $1,000) are available primarily to academic and non-profit organization personnel who need them.

This conference will provide a unique opportunity to meet and interact with practitioners, researchers and funding agencies related to the conference theme.

For your information, papers presented at the conference will be refereed and edited.  An Introductory Chapter will be prepared to integrate all the papers into a coherent technical and policy document.  Selected papers may be published in a special issue of a scholarly journal or an edited book.  Further information about the Authors Guide for those participants who are preparing a paper for the conference is provided in the attachment to this email.

If you have any questions, please contact us or just fill out the attached form and send it to Ms. Mickie Sundberg at msundber@pacific.edu
