Welcome to Social Sciences

The Social Sciences major is open to any student, and it often appeals to students with a broad range of interests. The B.A. in Social Sciences is administered by the History Department.

The major provides especially good preparation for those interested in becoming social studies teachers for grades 7-12.

  • Students do not need to declare a Social Sciences major in order to prepare for the credential test in the social sciences. But this major is designed to cover the fields in which students are expected to demonstrate mastery on the state-approved test for a single subject credential in the social sciences.
