Joe Johnson teaches graduate classes in Entrepreneurship and Analyzing Financial Statements. He has also taught Organizational Behavior at University of the Pacific. In 2008 he taught Entrepreneurship in Uganda and Rwanda.

While a 36 year banker at a variety of national and community banks he was involved in a number of activities that have enriched his skills. He has been on the board of several bank funded venture capital funds which invested in local startups. He helped found the San Joaquin Angels, which supports new ventures in the region. As Chairman of the Screening Committee he reviews and analyzes 30 to 50 proposals for funding every other month. He also consults with community banks and local businesses on a variety of issues.
