Casey Neimeyer Unable To Continue Basketball Career At Pacific
(June 26, 2009) -
Pacific men's basketball Head Coach Bob Thomason has announced that senior center Casey Neimeyer (Woodland, Calif.) is unable to continue his basketball career with the Tigers after suffering a severe finger injury earlier this summer. He will stay at Pacific and finish his degree in sports pedagogy.
"I'm hurting for Casey and his family, that he will not be able to finish his basketball career," said Thomason. "I know he would have helped this upcoming team be successful. Casey is doing the right thing, and he will continue to be part of our basketball program."
As a junior in 2008-09, Casey played in 31 games, making one start for the Tigers. He scored 56 points, while pulling down 28 rebounds on the season. He had a season-high eight points in Pacific's win at Cal State Northridge on Jan. 2. His career high came against Cal Poly on Jan. 28, 2008 with 14 points. An outstanding shooter at the center position, Casey knocked down 21 three-pointers in his three seasons.
Casey redshirted the 2009 baseball season to focus on basketball. In his previous three seasons, he posted a record of 2-3, striking out 16 batters in 32.1 innings over 26 appearances. It is still undecided whether he will be able to play baseball in the 2010 season.
