Two Engineering & Computer Science students receive "Ambassadorship" from Pacific's Global Center for Social Entrepreneurship
(June 1, 2009) -
The Global Center for Social Entrepreneurship was established in Pacific's School of International Studies. The Center's Ambassador Corps Program provides financial support to students wishing to obtain international interships in the field of social entrepreneurship. The Center awarded 10 "Ambassadorships" in 2009 and among the recipients were two of our very own engineering & computer science 2009 graduates, Liza Boyle and Jocelyn Gray.
Liza Boyle received a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering in May 2009, graduating magna cum laude. At Pacific she served as head tutor for the School's tutoring program and was a member of Tau Beta Pi Honor Society. She was also active in the School's Outreach Program, volunteering to host prospective students on campus. She completed her first co-op at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory in Colorado and her second co-op at Pathway Medical Technologies in Seattle, WA.
She has set up a blog at http://ambassadorcorps1.blogspot.com to document her journey to Karatara, South Africa. Her host organization is the Eden Campus in Karatara and her internship focus is sustainable Eco-Tourism Academy Teaching and Business Development.

Jocelyn Gray received a B.S in Bioengineering in May 2009. She competed on the Pacific Women's Water Polo Team as a goalie for 4 years. She completed her first co-op at Central Contra Costa Sanitary District where she found her love of environmental engineering. Her second co-op was at the Tahoe-Baikal Institute spending 5 weeks in Lake Tahoe and 5 weeks at Lake Baikal in Russia. She will be attending Pacific to obtain a Masters of Science in Engineering Science in the fall.
She has set up a blog at www.joceylyngray.wordpress.com to document her journey to Johannesburg, South Africa where she will be working as a Junior Lecturer/Teacher at the Maharishi Institute.
