The Record had a centerpiece feature story about former Brubeck Institute Fellow Glen Zaleski and his brother, former fellow Mark Zaleski. Their association with the Brubeck Institute and University of the Pacific was mentioned several times: The Record.

The Manteca Bulletin had a story that said Pacific graduate Candace Espinola was named principal of Stella Brockman Elementary School: The Manteca Bulletin.

Aug. 3

The Wichita Eagle ran the Associated Press story analyzing a lawsuit against Ford Motor Co. where the only people who made money were the attorneys who filed the suit. Pacific McGeorge Professor John Sims was quoted: The Wichita Eagle. KTIV (NBC, Sioux City, Iowa) and WSAV (NBC, Hilton Head, NC) both ran the same story. Aug. 4

Approximately 50 other news organizations, including television stations in Detroit, Chicago, Toronto and San Francisco and the Detroit News all ran the Associated Press story about a class-action lawsuit filed against the Ford Motor Co. where the only people who got paid were the attorneys who filed the suit. Pacific McGeorge Professor John Sims was quoted: The Detroit News.

Record Columnist Lori Gilbert had a piece about the lessons learned from the Henry Gates arrest. Associate Provost for Diversity Arturo Ocampo was quoted: The Record.

The Record had a story about NASA's plans to allow people to submit questions to the crew of the next space shuttle via YouTube. One of the crew members is Pacific Regent and graduate Jose Hernandez: The Record.

The San Gabriel Valley Tribune had a story about Iranian-Americans and their concern that their relatives living in Iraq may be in danger because the Iraqi government has raided several camps for Iranian exiles. Pacific McGeorge student Hamid Yazdanpanah was quoted: The San Gabriel Valley Tribune.

Aug. 5

Jeff Michael, director of the Eberhardt Business Forecasting Center, was interviewed by Channel 10 (ABC, Sacramento) about whether the economy has finally "bottomed out" and if a recovery will start soon. The interview is scheduled to be aired on one of the evening newscast today.

Vida en el Valle had a story about Pacific graduate and regent Jose Hernandez's space flight being delayed: Vida en el Valle.

Aug. 6

The Toronto Sun had a story about the members of the World Series 1992 and 1993 Blue Jays baseball teams. Pacific baseball coach Ed Sprague was quoted in the story. His affiliation with Pacific also was mentioned high up in the story: The Toronto Sun.

The Woodlands Villager (Houston, Texas area paper) had a story that said Pacific McGeorge graduate Gary Gelfman has established his own law firm.

The Record had a feature story on the upcoming Pacific Opera Institute production of "Elixir of Love." Professor Dan Ebbers was quoted: The Record.

The Sierra Sun had a brief that said Pacific McGeorge graduate The Rev. Patrick J. O' Connor, is retiring: The Sierra Sun.

Aug. 7

The Merced Sun Star had a story about the latest report that showed that the unemployment rate dropped a bit this month. The story quoted a report from the Eberhardt Business Forecasting Center: The Merced Sun Star.

Aug. 8

The Sacramento Bee had a story that said the closure of the NUMMI Plant in Fremont could have a ripple effect throughout the state, causing 20,000 people to lose their jobs. Jeff Michael, director of the Eberhardt Business Forecasting Center, was quoted: The Sacramento Bee.

The Fort Worth Star Telegram had a story that said Pacific graduate Dave Henigan was hired as a new high school football coach there: The Fort Worth Star Telegram.

The Record had a story about the triathlon for children that will be held at University of the Pacific next week: The Record.

KCRA (NBC, Sacramento) had a story about this weekend's Bob Dylan concert in Stockton. Conservatory Professor Keith Hatschek was quoted.

Fox 40 (Sacramento) had a story about the upcoming space flight of Pacific graduate and regent Jose Hernandez.

Aug. 11

The Santa Clarita Valley Signal, the Central Valley Business Journal, and a number of other newspapers ran a press release from NASA that said two men from California will fly on the next shuttle mission. One of those crew members is Pacific graduate and current regent Jose Hernandez: The Santa Clara Signal.

The Record had a brief about the upcoming Orange and Black ball: The Record.

The San Jose Mercury News ran a story about how "negative equity" could keep the recession going much longer in the Bay Area. Jeff Michael, director of the Eberhardt Business Forecasting Center, was quoted: The San Jose Mercury News.

Aug. 12

Capital Public Radio had a story on a new report from the Eberhardt Business Forecasting Center that said nearly eight to 10 times more jobs have been lost through the downturn in the construction industry than through restrictions in water flows to farmers. The Denver Post had a feature story on golfer and Pacific graduate Jason Preeo: The Denver Post.

The Record had a feature story on a recent scientific breakthrough made by Professor David Sparkman and student Matthew Curtis: The Record.

The Record had a brief about the upcoming Launch Party at Pacific: The Record.

Hispanic Business Magazine ran a feature story on astronaut, Pacific graduate and current Pacific regent Jose Hernandez: Hispanic Business.

Aug. 14

The Record had a feature story on the Brubeck Institute's Summer Jazz Colony, with a focus on the free concert being offered tomorrow afternoon: The Record. They ran a sidebar featuring all the guest artists, who will play a free concert tonight: The Record. KFIV (talk radio, Sacrament0) had a similar story.

The Record ran an editorial that said there are some important lessons that can be learned from a report recently issued by the Eberhardt Business Forecasting Center: The Record. In similar news, the California Progress Report ran a story that said a letter was delivered to Interior Secretary David Hayes that claimed that the discussions over the Delta have been co-opted by a small interest group. The letter quoted the Eberhardt Business Forecasting Center report: California Progress Report.

The Record had a short story about a recycling exhibit at the Stockton Children's Museum. The exhibit was designed by a Pacific graduate, the story said: The Record.

Aug. 15

The Merced Sun Star had a brief that said Dugoni graduate Justin Chapman received a prestigious fellowship from the Academy of General Dentistry: The Merced Sun Star.

Aug. 16

The Record ran a front-page wire story about Jose Hernandez's upcoming trip to the International Space Station: The Record.

The Record ran an editorial saying that Jose Hernandez is the "pride of Stockton" and reminding people that he is on the next Space Shuttle mission, scheduled within the next week: The Record.

Aug. 17

The Observer-Reporter (Pennsylvania) had a short story that said Pacific graduate Sean Sullivan has been named general manager of the Meadows Racetrack and Casino: The Observer-Reporter.

Aug. 18

Harness Link (an online news site for the horse racing industry) ran the story that said Pacific graduate Sean Sullivan was named general manager of the Meadows Racetrack and Casino: The Harness Link.

Aug. 19

CBS 13 (Sacramento) had a story about Pacific graduate and Regent Jose Hernandez's upcoming trip to the International Space Station. The story included an interview with his sister - Pacific employee Leticia Corona - and included multiple shots of the Stockton campus. It also mentioned that Hernandez is a regent. The story was broadcast on the 5 p.m., 6 p.m. and 10 p.m. newscasts. Univision also had a story about Hernandez that aired on their 6 p.m. news.

KPIX (CBS, San Francisco) had a story about what false teeth are made of. The story interviewed Dugoni Professor Parag Kachalia: http://cbs5.com/video/?id=54286@kpix.dayport.com.

The Record had an editorial praising Pacific doctoral student Matthew Curtis and Professors O. David Sparkman and Patrick Jones for finding a better method to testing drywall: The Record.

Record columnist Michael Fitzgerald had a piece about the qualities of a good city manager. Jacoby Center Director Bob Benedetti was quoted: The Record.

The Bulletin had a story about the upcoming Kindred Arts program this fall. It said that the New Pacific Trio - made up of Pacific faculty - will be featured artists: The Manteca Bulletin.

Aug. 20

KCRA (Channel 3) interviewed Jeff Michael, director of the Eberhardt Business Forecasting Center, about a new report that a new wave of foreclosures is starting due to people losing their jobs or getting salaries reduced. It is scheduled to air at 6:30 p.m. tonight.

The Record had a story that said Pacific Regent Jose Hernandez's shuttle mission was rescheduled: The Record.

The Record had a story about the art that will hang in the new county administration building. It mentioned that one of the featured artists is professor emeritus Gil Dellinger: The Record.

Nestor Jazz News had a story that said Pacific graduate Dave Brubeck will receive an honorary degree from the Berklee College of Music: Nestor.

The Tri-State Herald (Iowa) had a brief that said Dugoni graduate Vijay Vaddadi was hired as the staff dentist at the Crescent Community Health Center: The Tri State Herald.

Aug. 21

The Sacramento Press ran a story on its Web page about different security experts talking about the Internet is being used to enhance security. One of the experts was Pacific Police Chief Mike Belcher: The Sacramento Press.

The Merced Sun Star had a story that said investigations into deaths at the Merced County Jail is continuing. Pacific McGeorge Professor Ruth Jones was quoted: The Merced Sun Star. The Modesto Bee ran the same story.

Aug. 22

News 10 (ABC, Sacramento) had a story about Jose Hernandez's upcoming flight to the International Space Station. The story mentioned Pacific's launch party scheduled for Monday night: News 10. The Record also had a front-page story.

The Record had an editorial praising Jose Hernandez. His association with Pacific was mentioned: The Record. Mike Klocke also wrote a separate column: The Record.

The Contra Costa Times ran a story about how the East Bay is being hit harder by unemployment than other areas of the state. Jeff Michael, director of the Eberhardt Business Forecasting Center, was quoted: The Contra Costa Times. The Record had a similar story: The Record.

Aug. 24

The Record had a story about Sunday's Convocation. President Pamela A. Eibeck was quoted along with several students: The Record.

Univision, Channel 10, Channel 13, KCRA and FOX 40 (all Sacramento) and KPIX (CBS, San Francisco) and KTVU (Independent, San Francisco) along with KWIN (FM radio, Modesto) all had live coverage of the launch party for Jose Hernandez, with multiple teasers on their news shows throughout the evening. Pov Chin, director of the Community Involvement Program, Associate Provost Robert Alexander, Vice President Elizabeth Griego and numerous students were interviewed: News 10.

The Record had a front-page story about the Monday evening "Launch Party" hosted by University of the Pacific: The Record.

KFBK Talk Radio (Sacramento) is scheduled to interview Community Involvement Director Pov Chin at 3:40 p.m. this afternoon. The interview may also be broadcast simultaneously on KFIV (Modesto).

The latest issue of Newsweek has a story about the "financial tangles" of the San Joaquin Valley. Dr. Jeff Michael, director of the Eberhardt Business Forecasting Center, was quoted: Newsweek

YubaNet (an online news service that carries Sierra-Pacific area news) had a story that said that California Lt. Gov. John Garamendi issued a statement praising Regent Jose Hernandez and other members of the shuttle crew. The statement mentioned Hernandez's affiliation with Pacific: YubaNet.

Aug. 26

The Record had a front-page story about the delay of the shuttle launch. It mentioned that one of the crew members is Pacific graduate and Regent Jose Hernandez. Pov Chin, director for the Community Involvement Program was quoted: The Record. News 10 had a similar story: News 10.

The Manteca Bulletin had an opinion piece that said that Stockton is a better place than Modesto to visit. The column said part of the credit for that goes to University of the Pacific: The Manteca Bulletin.

President Pamela A. Eibeck was interviewed in the story.

KCRA (NBC, Sacramento) had a short story that said Pacific will attempt another "Launch Party" to coincide with the launch of STS-128. One of the crew members of that shuttle mission is Pacific graduate and current Regent Jose Hernandez. The Record had a similar story: The Record.

The Record had a story about another launch attempt of the shuttle with Pacific graduate and Regent Jose Hernandez as a crew member. Regent Tom Zuckerman and Media Relations Manager Patrick Giblin were both quoted: The Record.
