Joe Mazzaferro
Lecturer in Jazz Studies
Trumpeter, Educator, and Composer/Arranger Joe Mazzaferro received his bachelor's degree in Music Education from the University of the Pacific and, in 2009, received his Master's Degree in Jazz and Studio Music from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, where he served as the Graduate Teaching Assistant. While in Knoxville he performed with the Knoxville Jazz Orchestra and studied improvisation and composition with Donald Brown, Mark Boling, and Vance Thompson. Joe has also had the opportunity to perform with such jazz greats as Dave Brubeck, Christian McBride, Jimmy Heath, and Bobby Watson.
