Dr. Bhaskara Jasti’95 is the first at Pacific to be elected an AAPS Fellow
The Thomas J. Long School of Pharmacy and Health Sciences is honored to learn of the appointment of Dr. Bhaskara R. Jasti, PhD, Pharmaceutics and Medicinal Chemistry, to Fellow status in the American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists. Dr. Jasti is the first at Pacific to receive the AAPS Fellow status, the most prestigious award in the field of Pharmaceutical Sciences. He will be formally recognized at the 2009 AAPS Annual Meeting and Exposition held in Los Angeles, California in November.
AAPS recognizes the designation as Fellow through a member's sustained level of superior and distinguished professional achievement and contributions to the Pharmaceutical Sciences field.
With over 15 years of experience in the field of pharmaceutics research, Dr. Jasti has been involved in the design, development and characterization of targeted drug delivery systems, correlation of in vitro release profiles and in vivo pharmacokinetics, and the effect of food on pharmacokinetic properties. He is the author of more than 70 scientific articles and book chapters and presented over 80 posters at scientific conferences and meetings. Dr. Jasti has mentored more than 20 graduate students, post-doctoral fellows, and visiting scientists. More recently, he serves as Secretary/Treasurer for AAPS Biotech and provides professional expertise for project teams.
Bhaskara R. Jasti joined Pacific in August 2001 as Assistant Professor for the Department of Pharmaceutics & Medicinal Chemistry and was named Chairman of the Department in August 2006. He holds a BS in Pharmacy from Kakatiya University in Warangal, India and an MS in Pharmacy from Jadavpur University in Calcutta, India. In 1995, Dr. Jasti received his PhD in Pharmaceutical Sciences from the Thomas J. Long School of Pharmacy and Health Sciences at the University of the Pacific.
