





Reynolds Gallery to Feature Interactive Design Expert: Julie Beeler

Visual Arts alumna Julie Beeler will be lecturing on her concepts and methods for designing interactive media. As a co-founder and Managing Director of Portland-based Second Story Interactive Studios, Julie leads the studio in blending together technologies, design and storytelling to forge connections between people and their environments.
Her lecture will take place Thursday, September 24, 2009, at noon in the Jeannette Powell Art Center followed by a public reception at 6:00 pm that evening in the Gallery. In addition, her studio's exhibition will be on display in the Reynolds Gallery from August 31 — September 28, 2009. It is titled "Fifteen Years on the Line: A Survey of the Evolution of Interactive Media, 1994-2009."
Second Story works, often created for museums and various public institutions, are designed to pique curiosity, spur discovery and inspire audiences. With a background in visual design, art history and the liberal arts, Julie Beeler has defined and sustained an approach to interactive media design that focuses on reaching diverse audiences while pushing the limits of technological innovation.
Julie Beeler graduated magna cum laude with a B.F.A. in Graphic Design and Art History from the University of the Pacific. She is a frequent speaker at various conferences and schools across the country on topics ranging from interactive design methodologies to usability and the marriage of rich content and technology.
