Network Access Software Installation
() - October 2, the Office of Information Technology will replace the PacificNet Network Access Control Software, Impulse (Impulse Safe Connect), with Bradford Campus Manager. Impulse was enabled in 2006 to ensure the campus maintained its "private network" status under the Communications Assistance for Law Enforcement Act (CALEA). This legislation, audit requirements and increased cyber threats to users necessitate Pacific improve the security of user devices.
Campus Manager will provide additional features such as: Emergency Notification; Self registration; Secure wired ports ; and Authorized Guest access.
Here's what you can expect For university-owned machines: Friday morning; when you turn on your computers and login to your machine with your PacificNet ID and Password, your machine will automatically register with Campus Manager. This will complete the process. You may notice a new icon (square with orange, blue, white and gray pattern) in your systems tray, but should see no other impact on your workstation.
For non-university-owned machines: On Friday morning; when you turn on your personal computer, you'll need to open a web browser, provide your PacificNet ID and password, download an agent to ensure your machine is compliant with PacificNet standards. The download process runs quickly, and once verification of a complete download is received, you will be authenticated to the network, thus allowing access to your authenticated network resources. You may notice a new icon (square with orange, blue, white and gray pattern) in your Systems Tray but should see no other impact on your workstation.
If you encounter problems with your PacificNet IDs, or authenticating to the network, please contact the TSP in you area or the CSC (209.946.7400) for assistance.
