The University Diversity Committee invites the Pacific community to a presentation by Caroline Sotello Viernes Turner. Dr. Turner will talk about approaches to diversifying the faculty and staff. Dr. Turner is a Professor in the Division of Educational Leadership and Policy Studies, Lincoln Professor of Ethics and Eduction, and Doctoral Program Director for Higher and Postsecondary Education at Arizona State University. Her publications include:

  • "Diversifying the Faculty: A Guidebook for Search Committees"
  • "Faculty of Color in Academe: Bittersweet Success" (co-authored)
  • "Understanding Minority-Serving Institutions" (co-edited)

Dr. Turner's research includes:

  • Spencer Foundation funded study of the faculty search committee process and hiring of faculty of color
  • PEW Foundation funded study of Latino faculty in theological education
  • Ford Foundation funded study of Diversity in Academe Post-Grutter
  • Stanford University funded study of pre-16 reforms and the promise of a seamless educational system
  • Study of women of color presidents in higher education
