"Doubt" showing at Pacific Theatre Thursday
Meryl Streep, Phillip Seymour Hoffman, and Amy Adams star in this tense drama set in 1964. The story takes place at a Catholic school in the Bronx which has just admitted its first black student, a 12-year-old boy who transferred from public school. The principal, a rigid disciplinarian nun (Streep), and the liberal parish priest (Hoffman) are both concerned for the boy's welfare in a predominantly Irish/Italian school. The nun becomes convinced that the priest has, or is planning to have, an improper relationship with the child and is determined to force him to leave the school and the parish. Another person caught in the middle is a young nun (Adams) who is concerned but confused by the battle between the principal and the priest. Rated PG-13.
Showing time is at 8 p.m. Tickets are free for students; staff, faculty and alumni are $3; and general admission is $5.
This film is also being screeneds at 3:30 p.m. and 9:45 p.m. in conjunction with the "Keep it Consensual" Symposium.
