Nominations Being Accepted for Candidates for Provost by Search Committee

The President has appointed a search committee for the position of Provost. The Committee is made up of the search Chair, Phillip Oppenheimer, and faculty members Caroline Cox, History; Marilyn Draheim, Education; Hector Estrada, Engineering; Bill Herrin, Economics and International Studies; Patrick Langham, Music; Will Price, Business; Rachael Salcido, Law; and Larry Spreer, Chemistry. Other committee members include Academic Council Chair Cathy Peterson; Associate Dean Nader Nadershahi, Dentistry; Dean of Students Joanna Royce-Davis ; Vice President for Business and Finance Pat Cavanaugh; Associate Provost and Dean of Graduate Studies Jin Gong; staff representative Margaret Roberts, director of the Career Management Center for the Eberhardt School of Business; and students, Ty-licia Hooker and Kimmai Nguyen.

The University has hired a search firm, Isaacson, Miller, to help in conducting the search process.  Over the next several months, a Prospectus on the University and a job description of the Provost role will be developed and used to market the position.  Placements of advertisements networking and personal contacts will be used to attract a well-qualified and diverse applicant pool.  The committee feels very strongly that this is a unique time to be looking for a Provost and that Pacific is well-positioned to be an attractive environment for an academic administrator.

Please consider nominating people that you know and feel would be an appropriate candidate to be our next Provost.  If you have such persons in mind, please forward names, contact information and a brief statement of their experiences to Katherine Starros, at Isaacson, Miller:  415.655.4909 or kstarros@imsearch.com. Names of institutions where we should look or people who may be good sources for names of qualified people are also welcome.  All candidates, both internal and external, will be considered.
