Join Pacific Athletics Think Pink Week events in Honor of Breast Cancer Awareness

In a continued effort to support breast cancer awareness the Pacific Athletic Department has partnered with the national campaign during October with Think Pink Week Oct. 25-31. In the tradition of Pacific Plays Pink at women's basketball, the soccer team, field hockey team and women's volleyball team are showing their support at home games during the week.

Think Pink Week kicked off last Sunday with the women's soccer team's game against UC Santa Barbara in their final regular season home game.

On Friday, Oct. 30 at 7 p.m., the Pacific women's volleyball team takes on UC Riverside and will join hundreds of teams from around the country by participating in the Dig Pink National Breast Cancer Awareness Rally. All fans are highly encouraged to wear pink to make a statement in the stands.

Donations will be accepted during the game for the Side-Out Foundation, which is a 501 c3 Non-Profit charity operating under the brand of Dig Pink. It promotes volleyball events throughout the year to raise money for breast cancer translational research and community support services.

Rounding out Think Pink Week is field hockey as they play host to UC Davis on Saturday, Oct. 31 at 1 p.m. Fans will have the opportunity to make donations to both the St. Joseph's Foundation or the American Cancer Society at the game and are encouraged to wear pink to show support. The field hockey program will also be honoring the members of the NCAA 1989 team and honoring the memory of Nita (Brunner) Harris  that lost her battle with cancer in April, 2009.
